Just a fun little test with some plant brushes I made, might add more to the background some other day after I get all my extra stuff done. ^^
tiny bit inspired by -> [link] lol plant fox [link] EDIT: I wanted to add this a while back. This art was also greatly inspired by *AlectorFencer's most amazing way of expressing plants and animals. I find her to be one of my close Idols and do not fully clam this as any form of originality, just me searching around, ya know... being a young artist.
Wow! This looks really spectacular! I love the way you render things, and also the details~ <33 If you don't mind me asking, how did you draw this piece? (Like, how did you do the shading and what brushes did you use?)
I'm a fairly novice artist so I want to learn to get a little better at what I draw, and maybe be as great as you someday!
Well, first I sketched my topiary out; put a grey coat under the sketch; merged the layers; made a bright green texture by combining some texture from photos I take; changed the texture filter to color and then duplicated that layer before merging it and made that layer into a strong overlay; created a clipping mask with my filters before merging; and created all the brushes on my own. I went over the current layers with sampled colors with a soft, round brush to ease out the harsh sketch lines; made another layer using a semi saturated orange color and filled the space with the paint bucket; created a clipping mask with that layer to the bottom layer, erased the spaces were the 'light' hit it; adjusted the opacity of the layer before merging. Did some final touches with a medium hard round brush fade, keeping my layers a minimum of 2 to 4; merged layer over and over and used the color adjustment tool to get the colors I wanted, merged layers again and called it done. The thing is to be clever, use all of your resources to your advantage and don't think that you are 'cheating' unless you trace; then it's cheating.
Thank you, thank you very much! You know, I've never ever thought of using my brushes in this way, much less using the overlay settings and picture resources. I've never really seen a tutorial explain that in good enough detail, so I found this very helpful.
Thank you for taking your time to explain to me, it was extremely helpful~!
Also, no problem~! I was just expressing my honest opinion. <3
You're very much welcome. I've very hard to explain a process because each time I feel I change it. No problem either, I have tons of time on my hands, feel free to ask me questions anytime.

It's always good to experiment,
I feel like it's what makes art really fun in my opinion.
Thank you!
I love it so much
